Hi, I have recently taken up painting again after about 4 yrs, originally started as a hobby abt 12 years ago. I often try different mediums, but prefer Oils.. Inspired by Van Gough, Monet, Matisse.
Last year I sold my first painting





PAINT TO MUSIC EXPERIMENT:

I cant transfer music to my artshed so am experimenting with Digi Art:
thru the music on my pc (in house)
I then will recreate my digi art onto oils on Canvas & post them soon

Double Portrait,, Step by Step Progress Started 18 August 2008

This is my First Double Portrait.. 10th Week of DIY learning to paint portraits Here in these two photos you can view the underpainting which I start out by hand drawing the sketch in pencil onto the canvas. this allows for rubbing out and correcting. I then overdraw the pencil sketch with raw umber thinnned right down with turps (Oil Painting).. Daughter in Oils - Progress

I painted my daughter in pastels.. & some of you I know would like to see my progress as I am now going to paint her in "Oils on Canvas" I hope this is a successful oil painting! 1st of all I drew out the profile onto the canvas. and then with burnt umber watered down with turps I went over the drawing. Step 2 again using burnt umber and turps I fill in the dark areas

Painting Bob Ross Style

I bought his black gesso today.. I have his book, and recorded loads of his programmes.. I have his palette knife, though I must say, it isnt as good as others.. I have his clear and white stuff. & use it.. But I use decorators brushes ie 2 inch. (as his products are too expensive). Ive tried his technique, it never works.. Painting for Mastering Oils Group

Painting a vase of flowers: 28 April 2008 Okay, the first challenve at Mastering Oils Group.. [writing up this piece,, under construction!] Firstly I purchased a Bunch of Flowers to work from.. Consisting of yellows and deep orange reds.. which I placed on the windowsill and positioned a piece of golden paper behind the vase, which I attached to the window using masking tape, so as not to damage the paintwork! This is my Art Room,, well a corner of it..
I know I am fortunate to have one,, but in the Winter I work inside,,, but soon to migrate my hobby stuff to the Garden Shed! as Summer is supposedly on its way.,.{had a request to view my artshed May 2008} Just hope for a mediterranean Summer!! My Palette Knife, is Idol!

Ive decided, I feel more comfortable with my Palette Knife

It is a tool, that is a "must" in my PaintBox..

Once you have played around with it, You'll really appreciate "its" POWERFUL potential..

It can Scrape, it can pull down, it can pull the paint anyway you like

More than that,, you can load it with "mulitudes" of different colours,, and make a Creation,, THAT will "inspire you"...

BUT, tonight, my palette knife is "idol".. Ive mixed some colours, and painted,…

Put mine in front of the fire to dry, as I said earlier, it's damn freezing here.
I've put it in my portfolio, til i get around to framing all my watercolours and acrylics.
