QUICK LINKS AND MY LATEST ARTWORK

WHIMSY WOOLIES

Watercolor, Approx 12x15 inches

Profile

Where are you from?
Oregon, USA
What's your favorite medium (i.e. acrylics, watercolor, oils etc)?
pastels, watercolors, acrylics
How long have you been drawing or painting?
I'm returning to art after a long lay off
Tell us a bit about yourself:
Returned to painting in my mid-forties after a 25-year layoff as a workaholic. Tried pastels for the first time and loved them. Then 2-1/2 years ago, tried watercolors and love them too. In my early years I had painted in acrylic and oils and still do occasionally. I also like drawing in pencil.

I generally paint strong, bold subjects and focus on light and shadows as well as other good contrasts. I have eclectic taste in subjects and style but mostly love 'living' things and things with a lot of texture.

I teach art informally and love encouraging folks to get started as it's such a thrill to create. I sell my artworks on commission. And also teach folks how to use computers.

Hi VJ
I checked the website. I found Davids’ instructions excellent. The CD would have been very useful and helped me to advance beyond the “trial and error” stage, gain a little bit self-assurance when painting different topics, be it skies or trees. His rocks and pebbles are of particular interest – because I end up with unidentified blobs. He has a brilliant approach.
I shot an Email to David who replied. Unfortunately the costs are prohibitive. It would come up to over A$88.--
That is a little bit too much for me to spend on a CD - a shame. I was so excited to get beyond the fumbling stage.

helloVJ- thanks for your comments and suggestions. I am always open and interested in how others view my work. This painting was purchased by a collector from New Hope PA along with another larger painting I had done of a bridge that spans the Delaware River at Lambertville. Cheers- John

When I clicked on the red link to your albums, it took me to mine - only I don't have any yet. Are you sure the link really works? Maybe it goes to the albums of the person who happens to be logged in - like me, just now!

I'm going to create a folder on my page to put works in progress. I did one tonight that needs some help to make it have some kind of unity. I posted in pastels group, but I'll also create an album. I have more art photos to upload, but I'm worn out and can barely stay awake as it is. And tomorrow starts my busy work week. Suggestions, please?
