What's your favorite medium (i.e. acrylics, watercolor, oils etc)?: acrylics, watercolor

Tell us a bit about yourself:: I am a 44-year-old stay-at-home Mom, and a "budding artist." I have always wanted to draw and paint, but always told myself I didn't have the natural talent. I finally decided that if I told myself I didn't have talent, that's what would happen, so I have JUST begun to draw and paint ... it is opening a whole new world for me.

I have always had a creative bent, and dreamed of writing poetry in the mountains when I was in high school. In college, my dream gave way to practicality, and I majored in Journalism. I worked in Public Relations for 12 years before staying home with my two children, ages 4 and 8.

I look forward to getting to know you, and learning from all of you.

At 9:52am on October 14, 2008, Harry said…: Hi Maureen. The things you are thinking of are Neocolor 11 Watersoluble crayons. They are very good but I only use them for touching in. I also use watercolor pencils (unknown make) and Derwent Inktense watersoluble pencils.
The watercolor pencils were just a cheap make to try out before I spent a lot of money. Hope this helps. Regards Harry

Yep pelican are great, but they can be mean if you get to close or catch one on a fishing line. My fav is when they are gliding over the Gulf of Mexico just inches above the surf. I am lucky to live on the water but it is lapping at my backdoor as I type this, hurricane Gustav is coming.
