Well David, Although I don't know much about rain in Oldham having never been there (Nor abstracts) I like the overall effect of this painting but I think the white in the blue and red is really detrimental to the painting. I had to look carefully to make sure it wasn't flash reflection. Also while having the texture of the ground showing can be an interesting effect, in this case it's just distracting. I think that abstracts can't be judged on technical merits but on emotional feelings especially at first glance. At my first glance all I could see was that white and those grounds.
The rest of the painting is absolutely beautiful. It makes me think of a nebula as seen through the Hubble telescope.

Title: Rainfall over Oldham
Subject: Abstract
This was a piece of watercolour paper of which you painted some squares then placed the paper out in the rain and left it to natures~rain to create a wash over the painting.. am I right?
What medium did you use,, I am inclined to think it was acrylics?
It is quite interesting how the Blue square has kept its shape and the Red square has transformed into a cirlce, with a fiery red wash that has spread in the background. The red and blue objects have a nice broken texture.
Focus: I am drawn towards the red circle and the blue square. And yet if I look at the yellow droplets I am pulled into the red Circle.
Skill: One cannot comment on the skill involved for obvious reasions However, It was a Great Experiment Dave.

Hi David, I like your painting, I like the bright colours, I also like the muted colours, but the colours flow together and if you look closely you can see the 'raindrops' on the window pane, I am not very good at abstracts never know what I am supposed to see, but your painting I can look at and not get a headache.

Can I please get some help on how to rescue this awful painting. I would normally just throw it in the bin, but with all that talent out there surely someone will have a remedy? If not it's only a canvas!

Wow, Mizbiz, wonderful!!! A church/temple with walls made of thick white-grey stones, with some pieces of the material surround. The lake, the city in the end, the bush, the lawn, everything is perfect. I wish I could paint in wc like you. God bless your gift.

I am very new to WC painting and this is one I did this weekend of a local landmark using techniques that I have been learning from here so please be gentle with your critique :)

Hi Lynne
I agree with Michelle, where the water meets the horizon (sky),, also the white boat, its white reflection in the water seems to be seated ontop of the water, as you need to bring the water over the "reflection".. Hope this helps.. But having said that,, this is a Great Painting.

Hi Dawn
Thanks for that, I'm currently working on this little no. it's still giving me grief, worked on it yesterday, today I had to deal with other stuff but I'll take on board what you've said and work on it tomorrow. Hope it can be fixed.
Thanks for your input I value what you have to say especially given your experience in oils. Lynne

Worked on this a today and it seems to be a bit better. What do you think? Don't mind if you criticise at all, that's how I'll get better. Thanks Lynne
