How to forget myself by painting

I find that playing music helps a lot when I am painting, the softer the better. I really like the one you did Kossuth utca, looks like a glimpse of what one would catch from the window of a vehicle.

I do not know how much I can help you, but when I paint, my soul goes in that painting, I lose myself while painting and find that my feelings are there, in that drawing that I am making...Sometimes I rediscover those feelings by looking at the painting again...

Hi,
Long story short I can relate to forgetting myself thru painting. The last 2 years have been really challenging for my family. We have had to work through drug addiction, the burning down of our home, the loss of my childrens father and our friend from lung CA (non-smoker), my husband of 47 had a massive heart attack, and all 3 kids left the same year for college (empty nest syndrome BAD) So picking up painting has been a huge stress reliever for me. I can see your impatience and frustration in what you paint. If this is an outlet for you, go for it. It's all good.

So for you painting is a kind of Buddhist meditation, right? Why not, go ahead with it! You are asking for help. Help for what? Your pictures are so interesting, just go ahead with it!

Hi Laszlo,

I left a comment on your page,but I wanted to agree with Owen and Marion about music. I get really tense when I draw. Not so much the painting, just the drawing. I have to work at relaxing myself and remembering its just time and paper and I can throw it away and do another tomorrow! I found a nice free site on the web where I listen to alternative and nature music.



I used up half an eraser today trying to get a sketch done! LOL!
