As crazy as it sounds I have never ever ever! none a landscape scene ,
but after seeing so many other artist painting it inspired me to at least try so i held my breath and shrugged my shoulders and said here I go.
I tell you I have really gained a respect for people who do that type of art verses portraiture .I mean not that i didn't already but tou know what I mean.
I need to try paints I don't do so well with pastel at this.

Hay Kevin,
You knoow what? you inspire me to try my hand in pastels, never did before (not even as a child) but seeing your work gives me a shove towards trying, i might even have luck with them.
The dark and light shades are fine, and you can realy create an atmosphere. well done

Only 42 lucky you. I also struggle with landscape in any medium, you have done great with this considering it your first go at this style. I would not change anything about it, it is beautiful.

I like the pastel landscape. I am 43 and just starting drawing again. I don't know how, but I forgot that I once drew, mostly doodles and from my own imagination. It was only for a little while, but it was fun. That was more than 20 years ago. Your landscape has an abstract feel to it. I thought that I did not care very much for abstract, but have changed my mind over the last month. I am getting ready to try another pastel portrait. I might try a landscape in graphite, also. I am supposed to do a still life in color and graphite and an abandoned building for a friend. I hope they look like what the reference pictures look like when finished. I am happy to see that you have been inspired by the works of people on this site as I have been. Keep creating.

I didn't even pick up a paintbrush for the FIRST time until I was 45! What do you mean, "how sad"? How GREAT that you're 42 and trying something new! It means you're not dead (yet) :-)!

It seems that you're your own worst critic -- I encourage you to try all kinds of things and expect some not to work. That's what learning is all about! Some of the best painters I know have numerous "rejects".

By the way, your landscape is dreamy -- the colors are great and the feeling is peaceful. Good job!

The hardest part is staying awake. It doesn't seem to be much more than an afterthought for you to produce landscapes because you have already mastered paint.

Kevin, I love this! Bravo. I have never worked with chalk pastels and always thought they were too pale, but I am learning that one can achieve some brilliant color with them. I am learning oil pastels. I love trying new mediums! And the oil pastels,,,well the color is amazing! Good work and keep experiementing.
