Hi Joyce, love the paintings in the Bob Ross style, are you a fan also?? I love the man, I watched him so much I felt impelled to pick a paint brush up and start straight away, of course nothing is that easy and as the great man said practice and practice and load the brush right. I will get there one day. Pat

Hello Pat, I do like Bob Ross, I discovered his style through Darrel Crow"s web site, I had some job trying to find his paints etc, Darrel Crow sent me an address where I could purchase them here in New Zealand," ISOLATION" was the very first time I tried the wet on wet technique, had to practice for ages all the different methods. I logged on to the D Crow site and they send you the first dvd free,so that's how it all started. Why dont you check that site out? nothing to loose everything to gain they say, Good Luck Joyce

HiJoyce,
thank you for the info, I also go on the Darrel Crow web site and I also go on to AyoubArt with Sue, she is always saying that you do not need the expense of Bob Ross stuff she runs a web site that deals with Bob Ross's old 'master' Bill Alexandria who taught Bob Ross about the 'joy of painting. You should see some of her paintings. I have lots of Bob Ross dvd's and now I am trying out the Floral with Annette Kowlski who was Bob Ross's partner she paints fantasy flowers and they are amazing. I must admit that I bought some Bob Ross brushes and I think that they are fantastic.

I also love Bob Ross, he had such a soft speaking voice. His technique definetely comes out. I have some of videos and one of these days I'll have to give it a go.

You have painted 2 gorgeous paintings, that Bob would sure be proud of! I especially like Isolation!

Newby suggested to me about a Bob Ross Day (on my Blog)... If anyone is interested please email me....

Hello again Dawn, It would be a good idea to have a Bob Ross Day,if it is not too soon I am still waiting to start the Portrait study, am a bit dubious about trying that, but hope to start a sketch on canvas this week Thanks for your comment on Isolation. Cheers Joyce

I too followed Bob Ross's Joy of Painting programs. They gave me my first inspiration to try to paint several years ago. I seemd to have 'The knack' then for oils, but now after many years of not painting anything which I gave up to look after my sick husband. Now I have the time to try again, but I dont seem to be able to get back what I had. This is why I am trying with watercolour. I make such an unbelievable mess with oil, so watercolour is safest for me now. I still have several of his books, along with brushes, paints, and paint pallete. I think they will just sit and gather dust now...

Hi Joyce,
Very nice Bob Ross style paintings. I saw him paint in person some 30yrs ago at the Oregon state fair. Bob and his wife(?) had a booth set up and he was painting and talking and she was selling paint kits, some of his paintings, and his book (Perhaps his first) of course this was his pre-tv days. I watched him paint for about half a hour. 30yrs later I started watching his reruns and like thousands of others they got me interested in trying to paint. Keep up the fine work.
