Help, does anybody knows if acrylic painting uses a barnish when you finish the painting?
Thanks in advance
Margarita

I am sure you mean varnish. Yes people sometimes spray or brush their paintings with varnish for protection. I dont because i dont like the odour.
Thank you Cal Warren, I'm asking this because I painted something in white, and I didn't like it, when I try to put another color it takes in part of it and on others it doesnt. But thank you very much for your advise, I appreciate your concern.
Margarita, I paint in acrylics and when I am very sure I am not going to change anything I do spray it with a varnish for acrylic paint. It is easy and makes the painting look like oil in some cases. It gives it a shine and I like the finished look. It does have a odor but goes away shortly after drying. I leave it outside til then...Hope this helps.

Thank you Rose you are a great friend,
Victoria Thank you very much for your comment, I'll do that.
Actually if I'm using acrylics on a canvas I don't use anything on the painting after it's done. Acrylics are self sealing. That just MHO
Thank you Marilin K, I don't use anything but now that I think is a bad white paint.I mean maybe they sold me and oldone, I'm afraid, because the first time it went out the color after it, but now I'm seeing that you are right.
Thanks again
Hi Margarita, Yes you will use a water based varnish for your acrylic.
Jim
I use a water-based varnish. It's inexpensive and doesn't have a bad odor. Blessings, Larry
Larry Thank you so much for your help, I will do that, I don't use anything to barnish my paintings, but now that one is sold I'm afraid with thew time it could happen that this white maybe was old, for me is new, I just bought it, but I don't know if it had a lot of time in the store. Thanks again I will follow your advice.
