If I, or any one else can obtain FREE ebooks in PDF format, would any one be interested in starting a Reference Library,
The books can range from Anatomy, Art History, Step by step Tutorial, General Art Topics, Cartooning, etc.

They MUST be FREE to download. ie. NOT shop bought, for copyright and other legal reasons, If they can be LEGALLY downloaded from free ebook sites, then they are useable.

Just to start the ball rolling, here are two I found

"Oil Painting For Dummies"
"Animal Anatomy"

Please let me know what you think, personally I think it would be an invaluable resource and save us all a lot of money.

Hi All,

Just a word of caution....

Please be absolutely certain that you are not infringing the copyright owner's rights by posting the ebooks here. If they are free to download off the Net then you are not infringing any laws by downloading them yourself BUT it doesn't automatically give you permission to post the ebooks for download elsewhere (such as here).

The author/publisher in most cases will have no problem with you doing this - they've probably made the book free for maximum exposure. If you are unsure then simply provide a link to the free download web page rather than downloading the book then re-uploading it here.

David, on a lighter note this thread has really taken off and I'm amazed at how much freely available material there is. Great job!

I'll send you a PM later today as I think this warrants at least a group (I'll also pass on some tips for how you might categorize the group).

Phil.

This is a great idea and will be a help to many like me...but could you please put a little more of a description on the ebook so we download only those interested in. I don't have a lot of space on my pc. Thanks so much to all of you.

Cheers Phil
This surprised me as well, and the idea of links is probably the best as we could get to the stage where we fill the server with books. I've just managed to get about a DVDs worth last night alone.

Here are a couple. I'm actually trying to get away from this because it's time consuming and I've downloaded more material than I think I can study in a lifetime. However, that's how I got Andrew Loomis books - a rare treasure indeed. I still think if the links are provided in Shy's "Online Tutorials" group, that should be sufficient to find much of what you need.
