Hi Charlee.
You are extremely good with the pencil, and i would be happy to be your friend. I particulary like your landscapes, to achieve the right light and shade with the pencil is hard (well for me it is).
Charlee, I don't know of any site to help with watercolor portraits, but I started with a book by Jan Kunz: "Painting Watercolor Portraits that Glow". Marvelous resource. And check out Paintdoodles.com. Peter Saw's CD is a God-send. Worth twice the price. He doesn't do portraits on there, but the wealth of watercolor knowledge is endless on that one CD.
Thanks Charlee! There are no dumb questions, but I have been known to give dumb answers on occasion. Let me say, you have some really good drawings on your page. Marvelous!
Underpainting: yes. The way I do it, I use a gazillion thin glazes built up to the value I want. Sometimes the first layer is a light version of the flesh tone. Sometimes in the hair it's a light layer of green..
Thankyou for your lovely comments about my Snowy Squirrel. I have been looking through your artwork and you are obviously very talented. Congratulations, your portraits are superb as are all your other graphite drawings. Have you tried colour? I used to always just draw with graphite but someone prompted me to try soft pastel for portraits and I have just loved them since then. There are some of mine on my artwork page if you care to have a look to see what they are like. Soft pastel gives one the ability to make the subject's skin look translucent in a very 'alive' way. Thanks again!
Thank you, Charlee, for your kind comment on my Christmas scene. We rarely get snow here, but do live on that body of water and it was fun to add snow and Christmas trees.
Hi Charlee .. thanks for your friend invite which I'm honoured to accept :) Your portraits are all delightful !!! What wonderful expressions you've captured , especially in the children :) It looks like you're taking full advantage of your art studies ... wonderful works !
Charlee, Ta for the comments. Snails are one of gods creatures too! Poor misunderstood little things. But the eleventh commandment says " though shalt not let thy orchids be eaten to death!!" Squish em when necessary!! hehehehe
Hi charlee, i just popped by to thank you so much for taking time to comment on my last painting, its very encouraging when someone that you dont know thinks its worth taking a look ! ! and even more encouraging when they leave a comment, i give you 5 stars.
