Thanks Steve, we've just had a very cold spell here in Lancashire North of England and believe me the pictures look much nicer then the reality!! We're left with horrid black slippy slush now, not a pretty sight, am sure it's much nicer in Orlando!!

great tip I was told to squint to try to see the contrasts better I like your idea better if using a photo though.

Steve, thank you so much for your WOW to my art (giggle), it is much appreciated. One thing that I do that I think helps me concerning values, is to put your photo on the computer of the painting and go into some photo editing program (I have Photo Shop Elements), perhaps your camera program, and turn it into a black and white. It is much easier to see if if is looking "flat" for lack of strong values, and if something is not "going beneath" like the little girl's head needed to be going under the rain coat. Let me know if you have Photo Shop Elements and I will tell you another trick. Ro
