Heartstopping! You know I have Prismacolor pencils, and they don't do this!! Maybe I have to pick them up and know how to use them? Oh my goodness! This is just so good. It looks exactly like a model boat on my china press. I love boats with sails a…

Hi Walter
Thanks for your help. I actually use a hand sharpener but was thinking of getting an electric one. It does get tiresome sharpening all the time! I am so in love with the way the colored pencils do leaves that I can't make enouh of them. The first piece I worked on turned out terrible ( I filled it in too much and it becvame terribly cluttered and imbalanced. But I am working on another one. Hope to be able to put it on my site soon. Thanks again, Cathi

Hi Walter, Thanks for the info. It was very helpful. Now my next question is.. why does my prismacolor pencils break up so badly? I thought it might have been because I could have dropped the box...but didnt't remember it. So I bought some new ones today adn I have 3 that are doing the same thing. About every 1/3 to 1/2 an inch they are broken. It is like throwing away at least half then pencil. What a waste.

Hi Walter
I just read in the cp group what you said about paper and bloom and I have no idea of what you are talking about. I have just started using cp and would like to avoid those things if I can. Let me know what they are and I would appreciate anything else you could tell me. Right now I am using50# paper from my sketch book. Is 90# a good type of paper to use? can you display cp without glass? I am eager to hear from your expertise eyeview! Thanks, Cathi

Hey Walter, thanks for the friend invite. I didn't realize that all of your work was colored pencil. You've really got a handle on them.

my second comment is that I can't get over how REAL they look. What did you use for the dark background color? And the fish are just glistening!

The painting is lovely,I think what might be bothering you is the large dead tree on the left.Imo it is competeing with the duck for the viewers attention, but if the client is happy with it...no worries...btw perfect frame for the scene.

i think it turned out really good. As far as shadows, it's a pretty gray, stormy type day and maybe no real sun around.

It's always a joy to look at your paintings, Michael. The composition, rocks, birds and lichen are just superb! If I were going to offer anything it would be that perhaps the water, painted with fainter washes, would have pushed the water back and p…
