"Hello Hans, the 11th of november is for the British and commonwealth basically the same as for us the 4th of may is. Remembering all the soldiers who fought and are fighting today."

"Tom - You have captured the essence of 11-11. As time passes memory dims but there is always something left behind hovering, reminding us of the sacrifices made.  Your painting says it all."

Dank je voor je uitleg; ik had alleen begrepen dat het de ondertekening van het vredesverdrag was. Maar dit heeft een veel diepere betekenis. Een heel mooi eerbetoon Tom. En mooi geschilderd.

Tom a pressie from LJ......

Hi Bix, I was just winging it really but here goes as to how:

I started with a very pale wash for the lights on the donkeys and then layered washes using different mixes of the same two colours varying from greyish to brown, red madder and I think indigo or prussian blue - I  can't remember now!  So start with the lights, then go a bit darker and lay in the mid tones, then a bit darker and lay in the darker tones, letting each layer dry before adding the next.  Use positive and negative brush strokes to depict the hairs leaving the light initial wash for highlights.

Hope this helps him!

"I just finished my Yorkie. She sure is a cute little critter. I didn't have the right colors (or wasn't successful in blending them), but I do like her anyway. It's done in Derwent Colorsoft pencil on 9 x 12" drawing pad paper. "
