Thank you for sharing this. Gosh I have so much to learn, I hope I live long enough! LOL. I must get that book. I assume you thin the paint way down to get soft effects even when using a knife? I would have been so tempted to paint in those cool gra…

Excellent. The red rock color is fabulous and all the values look perfect to me. I get a great sense of depth and size when I look at this. Really well painted and enjoyable to view. I mean it. I have to have a look at the blog. I am wondering how o…

Beautiful colors, especially the hair. Mary did a thorough and wonderful explanation and I cannot add much to that and do certainly agree with it. The hair at the top of her head is marvelous, especially the part; got some wonderful shading there! T…

99% of the time I only add enough oil to my paint to make it like creamy tooth paste. It is just not stiff, but not runny either.

Tom, I answered on the blog post and have no idea if it sends something to you. I answered here as well. Ro

Tom, thanks for the positive comments on my Sunlight and Shadow on the Canyon Walls painting. Your question about how to blend clouds with a knife is a good question. It is just in the blending of one color into the next color with little short "swipes", and then wiping your knife as soon as you notice the color moving over to where you dont want it. Look at the sky in Morning Light and imagine how often you would have to wipe your knife to add the colors with a smooth change from dark to light. Clear a mud? LOL Remember also I am working in oils.

Our class is in a Hobby Lobby store - so she just walks out into the store, grabs up a few things and brings them back into the room for us to use.

Tom you underestimate yourself, you really do. You have such a way with expressing what a pix needs and i and i would BET otheres would agree. Too true, if i lived near you, i'd pay 25 an hour to study under you, and, consider it a privlege. Drawing class? Do not ever underestimate the talent you produce, and the kind way you have of steering people to prob areas. I would bet $ on this that i am right. You, my friend, know your stuff and on top of that you are a genuinely nice person. lamoine

Don't underestimate yourself, Tom. Your work is excellent. Tina lives about three hours from me - and I am arranging with her to come to her studio, and take pictures of her dancers. On Tuesdays she teaches ballet, clogging, and ballroom dance to adult students.

I agree with Turtle. However, remeber that limestone is basically blue/grey; the greens are usually impurities or growths like moss and algae. Although it is deposited in layers, it is eroded by water, so has lots of verticals and wavy strata, both…
