What a beautiful bird. I love the clarity and how vivid the colors are.

Well Robert, you can blame it on me. I didn't tell you to also click on Link to original. The 300 pixels blows it up the first time, then Link to original enlarges it again. I really don't know why it has to be so confusing. I'd be willing to bet th…

That worked! I let it resize it to 300 pixels but selected it'll come up full size in a popup if clicked. Maybe that's why it took so long and didn't work before.

Well, i'll give it a try! That's actually what I did that created the link in the start of the discussion. I'm very annoyed it didn't work this time, it worked on Clarity.

Very, very good, Robert.......but you need to post it here directly. You can just click on the camera above this window now. I just recently figured out that, when you start a new discussion, you don't get the camera but a small rectangular picture.…

It looks good! The apple is gorgeous and the metal cylinder or canister reflecting it is well done. Good choice of objects and excellent rendering. The only problem is composition, and I suspect that could be your scanner's doing. The cylinder is t…

Yes, those are the ones I was talking about. I only have a few of them because they're very expensive, so I keep putting them off till last. Eventually I'll have full range on all the good artist grade colored pencils, but it won't be soon. I love t…

Hey Robert, Am I right that the Pablos you're talking about are Caran D'Ache? I only have a few of those. Don't even remember why I got them but I'm sure it was for some particular project. I like them and will probably get more. Fran

This is a great series. I like the exuberant strange foliage on your bamboo and the way you used different colors in monochromes and duochromes. Very classical.

Tell us a bit about yourself:
"Other" includes Coloured Pencils and Oil Pastels among many, many, many others. There ought to have been an option for "all of the above and then some!"

I also own and maintain an Oil Pastels website, Explore-Oil-Pastels-With-Robert-Sloan.com -- search on that and you will definitely find it. Big site with 75 pages or so, but no forums like this one.

I have been doing art all my life, was professional in the 1990s and now disabled completely, have been doing more writing about art and teaching online.

One of the wonderful things about Bob Davies and his Watercolour Secrets videos is that even if you are already pretty much of an expert -- they are inspiring and for someone self taught, they can fill in gaps you didn't know you had. Watercolour wasn't my strongest medium. I've spent years trying to master it and those videos helped me understand it a lot better in its own right. Some things like travel sketching are coming clearer to me than they ever have.

Oh yes. I tend to write rather long posts on everything from introductions to posts -- it's an occupational hazard for a novelist. Someday I expect to earn enough from online and offline writing to quit my day job as a cripple -- even though I'll get it again just for age in a couple of decades, it'll be nice to do that and be self supporting again.

My science fiction novel, Raven Dance, is available at iUniverse.com and is a big fat epic with plenty of action, social satire, intricate plotting and immesvie backstory. If you like visiting the weirder places in the literary universe you'll probably enjoy it.

Hey Robert,
Thanks so much for the nice comment and the advice on my picture of Mary Mary. That's the first time I had used the Coloursoft pencils and I really like them. Looks like I just can't get away from Derwent.
Have a wonderful weekend,
Fran

Hi Kirk, This is a very good portrait. Payne's grey I find very good for black and white subjects, although you do seems to have other colours mixed with it? Quite a bit of red? Well done. Danny
