Acrylics, Watercolors
How long have you been drawing or painting?
More than 3 years
Tell us a bit about yourself:
I work in the Physics and Astronomy department at the University of Sheffield. U.K.
I've been painting for about four years and I'm self taught. I'm still experimenting with different media and styles but it seems that the animals have taken over, at least for now.
I set up an art group at work called, (not surprisingly) the "Physics and Astronomy Art Group". We cover art, crafts and photography. See our website at http://www.shef.ac.uk/physics/art-group

Hey Richard. I really like your stylized animals. Simplistic but well thought out. Excellent work. Well done. Welcome to the site.

Yes Richard, that is precisely the idea in Teatime, you can bring forward the interesting parts of the painting you want to highlight. Good luck on your new experiments, I'm sure you'll have fun!!! :-)

Thanks for your comment on Teatime Richard. It was fun doing and it was interesting to see the very different results we all obtained in the classroom using the same technique. My teacher says it is important to paint them in light colours so the shades that appear belong to the different hights and not to the colouring.

Hi Richard, I just love your animals paintings their expressions are wonderful and made me smile. I struggled last week to paint sheep I wish I had seen yours then. You could illustrate cards or childrens books.
I see you've just joined us so Welcome and be happy here.

Tom, Another good ballerina painting... you have helped me make up my mind to correct my last "ballet" horror. I hope I can get as good results as you. H

Sue, Looks good sue and I am sure it was a pleasure to paint. I agree with Damaclese the shadow detail does not suggest and particular light source. His knuckles suggest light from above but then the gun stock should cast a shadow over his hand. Ho…
