Tell us a bit about yourself:
I'm a student of Computer Graphic Arts at my local college. Starting over a little late in life. A college student at 43. Just coming into my 5th year painting in acrylics, and I'm looking forward to building a body of work to one day exhibit, and I'd like to possibly be accomplished enough to do commissioned work. Maybe even teach? A personal goal. I practice constantly and have so much to learn, but it's an adventure that I have enjoyed.
I look forward to meeting other artists and sharing in the technical and creative processes.

Still alive and kicking...Some WIPs are slow going

I haven't been on ID&P for a while. Nor have I been doing much of anything else except for ploughing snow, shoveling snow, clearing snow, salting snow, pushing snow, clearing snow..........you get the idea.....

Sheesh, have we been hit here in the northeast. I didn't think it was going to end. I actually saw the sun yesterday. With a little blue sky surrounding it. So that's what it looks like!! We're not out of the proverbial w

More meanderings.....sitting in chaos....or How do you finish WIPs

Just felt like writing again. Just a quick shout before returning to homework. My mind rolls along sometimes......

Ya know....I'm not old....but old enough. I'm still enrolled in college (in my 40s no less), studying Graphic Arts.....and this semester I'm actually studying XHTML, Advanced CSS and Javascript. My advisor felt that I had visual abilities....but thought I should learn how to program websites and the like to "round out" my resume. I don't think he realizes I'm not 21 anymore. Coding… Continue

A quiet tribute to Bob Ross...and to all artists

I hope I don’t come across as pretentious. This was something that struck me funny the other night. I hope you’ll take this in the spirit it is intended….or you can just pass it off as the meanderings of a goof-ball….lol

I came home from classes at my local college and had an itch to pai… Continue

Hi Rich Thanks for the comment on my "King`s Morning Walk" difficult one. I am back at acrylics and feeling like I have never done one. I gessoed the canvas, do you do that?, as i now find it even more difficult to blend. Having said that after a few glazes it seems to be improving, in awe how you get it so smooth. Oh well, I will try. I never give up in my art.
Thanks

Rich, your artwork is outstanding. The colors and composition is so good. I read some of your comments here, and I hope you have a show soon. you are in Massillon, Ohio? Used to drive old Rt 21 all the time going right thru there. We are neighbors as I live in Strongsville.

Anyway, I am a rank beginner and truly admire so many here that are so talented. I'll never get there, but will have fun striving to do better with each one.

Hi Rich Thanks for the comments on my paintings, it is very much a ppreciated, I am so lucky to have such amazing artists as you even looking at mine. You know I am a huge fan of yours, and your site. You should be "rich" by now with your talent.LOL. My acrylics are very new and still learning. I think it is about tone, and that you (I think) have got that spot on. Not at all easy. I did one "Early Bird" , would love your advice, as I think it could be better, just not sure how, to get that glow of morning light coming through onto the water, yours are soooooo smoothj. If you have a chance , I would love your feedback. I will not pester you I promise. Thanks

my second comment is that I can't get over how REAL they look. What did you use for the dark background color? And the fish are just glistening!

The painting is lovely,I think what might be bothering you is the large dead tree on the left.Imo it is competeing with the duck for the viewers attention, but if the client is happy with it...no worries...btw perfect frame for the scene.

i think it turned out really good. As far as shadows, it's a pretty gray, stormy type day and maybe no real sun around.
