VeryJoyful (VJ) said… - Hi, Ray! Long time no 'see'. Life has been pretty busy for me but is smoothing out a bit so I'm starting to do a bit more painting. So many things I want to paint....so little time. I'm getting back into acrylics now but I'm vacillating. I like the easy re-usability of watercolor so there is no waste and its ability to flow and merge. But I also like the control I get with acrylics and the ability to 'build' my painting. I have found I do not like painting acrylics on canvas...for some reason I hate the grain of the canvass showing through so am now exploring various other surfaces. I painted a recent portrait on foam core and loved the surface for the background but it's too easy to dent. Do you ever use clayboard or bristol board? Also do you use any of the mediums for more flow and/or to retard the drying time?
