This is my childhood home, circa 1960s when my father built the 2 car garage with living room above. The painting was done for my niece, Polly, who remembers the house during that "era." She requested fall colors and I took some liberties with place…
Absolutely love them! The background is especially vivid with the purplish-violet shades against the yellow. Nice use of contrast. Overlapping gives depth to the painting, as well. Really, really nice! Penny
Your best yet, Tony! The wave action gives this such a dynamic feel and the ship and tug (at least I think it's a tug) are dramatically rendered. The water appears to be of much depth, which would be needed for a ship of this size. Very inspiring! I…
Looks like the acrylics worked just fine on the w/c paper. This is a beautiful rendition of a rose and I love the dew drops. Thanks for sharing this gorgeous painting with us. Penny
I absolutely adore this, Mary. The colors are so luminescent and soft. I think I may have put a highlight in her eye, but not having one gives a kind of pensive feel to her expression. Great job. Penny
Maylon, the frogs are not washed out; in my opinion, they are quite luminous and I love the painting and reflections. Great subject and a painting to be proud of. Penny
Originally drawn to watercolors, as my mother had done some when she was young. The medium is conducive to stopping and starting; just a little water refreshes your paints. I enjoy gardening, but am limited by back problems. Am retired from working in the health care industry for over 40 years. I also enjoy roaming flea markets and antique stores.
I really thought about that highlight in the eye . . . it was very tempting. But as I studied the light source, it seemed to me it was hitting the back of her head. I'm so glad you enjoyed the painting!
Hi Penny, thank you for taking the time to view and comment on my watercolor Some Things Change. Your words mean a lot and I appreciate them.
Have a great weekend!

Elisabet,
Wow! This is full of colour and life. A great match for the motion in the water. I'm amazed that you were able to paint this so fast and so well.
Jim
Elena,
I'm happy to continue the challenge. I feel I have learned a lot by doing the challenge paintings for the past year, and think it's only fair that I start giving back. I am also willing to share the duties. If you have a photograph that you…
