Hi Anirudh. I'm thinking this works best! The dark background is in stark contrast to the light on her face, and really does make this drawing 'pop'! Such a great likeness!

Beautiful Alan. - Very appropriate that this is your last drawing of her.... looking heavenward? I agree with what Tom says (and everyone else!), - I also think her bottom lip could have a bit more of the light colour on it, following contour of l...

Tell us a bit about yourself:
I'm a dabbler. - A' Jack of all Trades'! - A bit of this, a bit of that. I've mainly painted on calico, using fabric paint, and made into wall hangins. I've made and painted paper mache sculptures, studied drawing for a while, and am now looking at painting on canvases. I painted half a canvas in acrylics, then did an oil painting class! So I seem to be exploring 2 mediums, with an eye on watercolour as well!

Hey Noni!!!!
Nope, I don't make my own Christmas cake nor pudding but I should......
My Nana used to make a wonderful clootie dumpling. I remember she would spend hours boiling her dumpling in a "cloot!" (large muslin) over the stove.
When we were little she would pop some coins wrapped in baking paper into the dumpling as a surprise gift . Funny how each granchild always got a coin :)
Yes I am trying..... to be organized this year as it is an exceptionally busy time with the house move pending and also a wedding looming three days before our move!!!!
But, believe it or not I am still painting.... it is for me a great way to "zone out " on everything else going on around me and just focus on my work.
Sun burn!!!! What I would give for a little sun burn right now!!!!!
We had atrocious weather last night with vast gales and lashing rain sooo horrible!!!.
Louis had to help us all get out of the car and into the house. Even he had trouble .
Anyway today seems to be better, but with Scottish weather being what it is that goes for nothing. !!!!!
Sounds like your up to date with the garden, that's always a relief but such hard work!!! However soooo pleasant to sit in a beautiful garden and just admire it,or paint it for that matter.
Cheeribub for the moe!

More thoughts.........at times I must "worry" about my paintings when I sleep, because when I wake up "something" just pops in my head to do/try. I also switch brushes to see if I can do "something" using a different brush. That is probally how I figured out how to do the clouds in Float Trip and Fading Light......different brushes do different things. Cool huh!

When I used to teach art my students would bring me problems to solve in their paintings, and I grew (I believe) much quicker because I had problems to solve that were not even in my paintings. I look at ID&P the same way. I see problems in other peoples art, and I just naturally (now) try to solve the problem - because it is one that I have not encountered before. An example is Carol William's painting A Ride in the Park, and Prabal Mallick's painting Manali_Village. On Carol's, the problem is that the pond is standing up. Another sketch was put in, but to me that really did not solve the problem - he dropped the back edge of the pond down some, but the edge is still going directly up the painting. We either must locate a real pond that goes directly away from you and figure out in nature what we are missing (value??) or just know that you must change the painting so that the pond does not run directly with the road. With Prabal's problem of the eye being lead out of the painting with the road, I am satisfied with my solution - untried in a painting - but, should I ever want to paint something similar - in my mind I have something solved to try.

Anyway, you get the drift. There are times that I don't even mention my thoughts to people when I see problems, but I just ponder them in my mind to try to solve the problems that I see. You try it too, because it will introduce you to more art than you have time to paint, thus your learning curve will go up much more quickly. And that is what we all want. Ro

Hey Noni!!!
Sounds like a great opportunity, could you promote your paintings along with the furniture?
I am still working on my seascape. I don't know how many times I have changed it now. Do you do that too or is it just me. I have no problem what so ever painting out bit's tweaking here and there.
Did I say I wanted to do a series of seascapes? WHAT WAS I THINKING.....????
Anyway started my Christmas shopping early this year. The children have given me
their lists, and then taken them back again to readjust ( basically add more) so inbetween painting and the rest, I am now shopping wrapping and packing( we get the keys to our house in three weeks but won't be in until the new year!!!)
Doesn't Christmas come earlier each year? Already the town decorations are up and the shops are stocked with chocolates , sweets and puddings.....you can already have a mince pie with a cuppa in John Lewis !!!! (a large department store in Glasgow)
Dear me! enough winging. I'm off to paint.
Toodle pip,
Lou x
