Tell us a bit about yourself:
I am a busy mom that tries to squeeze in a couple of paintings in the middle of being a mom and a vocal performer in my community. I never tried to do a painting till my Grandma passed away and I got some of her art supplies. It is amazing when you find something you can do and never know that you could make something that other people enjoy. I really love to paint landscape and wildlife. One of these days I will attempt to do a human...(scared)

Wildlife in my back yard. Never live somewhere you can't paint something within 1 mile from your home.

Frame of mind or in the mood.

OK I don't know if anyone else has this problem but I will tell you I can't do anything right if I am not in the right state of mind to do any art. I have 5 kids and some pets that can get on my nerves at times and it seems to be when I want to try something new. I go most of my days just doing my normal Mother of the house things like laundry, dishes, cooking and trying to keep track of my very busy kids. On certain days I have this strong desire to do a painting and if my house is peaceful and… Continue

Opening the eyes to really see the world.

Ok I just thought that I would share this with people and if you are a beginner at art especially painting then this may be something you should think about.

I never really have looked at the world until I looked at it through artist eyes. My grandma always told me if I want to draw or paint something then I needed to find out why it looked like that and what made it look like that. I never thought it would make a difference in my paintings until I started really staring at really everything ar… Continue

Hi Kristy - don't be scared of anything first of all! You have a natural ability which I'm sure will shine through when you have a go at doing a sailing ship. If you're seeking inspiration, you could do worse than Google images. Type in sailing ships and you'll get loads of great photos and even paintings that should inspire you. I use Google images a lot when I'm seeking inspiration or reference pictures etc. Go for it!!! I'm looking forward to seeing it. Good luck x

Kirsty I have just browsed your gallery and have been blown away by so many of your paintings! You have a real talent for landscapes and wildlife and the way you incorporate those paintings into natural objects like feathers and leaves is inspirational.

If you look on line for this tree you will see that it is a good one for this. How does the leaf stay nice after you have painted it with out it getting dried up, do you spray it with a clear so it will last. I will show you some pics of this leaf during this season for I am getting it this spring.

Kristy, your work is incredible!
If I had 5 kids and numerous pets I doubt if I could find any muse at all!
Take care
