beautiful composition..i love the soft palette .. i think the tree on left is a bit too pronounced... since it seems to lead the eye.. which is what might make you question your perspective...

I use expensive water colors like Daler Rowney or Van Gogh or Rambrand... Above Newton & Windsor is also very good... I also use black drawing ink... No colored ink, no Ekoline...

Ken,
Thanks for the nice comment on A Rose in the Sunshine.
Sorry it took so long to get back to you. I am getting to everyone, just looking at everyone's work.

yes it is a long drive. Longer each day I get older.
I learned to drive Late in life for aoround here, when I lived in Edmonton, Alberta, in the late '70's.
There distance is really open. It wasn't anything to drive a couple hundred miles just for a drive.
Here it isn't quite like that but going to PEI is like going home. I loved it there (except for the 9 months of winter with a rainy season on either end). I just have places chosen to get fuel and stop for a tea. I must let everyone know where I am and how things are going.....My bad health is responsible for that) I go a couple days in advance so I can wind down and get my head together. I am lucky as I have family there so I can just settle in and sleep, read and drink tea, whatever, to get me sorted out.
I have often thought of going to Europe. I even had a ticket and a eurail pass cback in the 70's. My dad talked me out of going at the airport. I do regret that. I always thought places were so close there you could see"everything" by just walking. (I was a 'walker') I haven't totally given up on the idea but somehow I won't hold my breath waiting. :?)
I hate how people drive here now. So fast and rude and really dangerous. Everyone is in such a hurry!! The older I get I try for back roads where I can. I like to rubberneck and see where the changes have come and look at colours and the lay of the land. I dearly love crossing on the ferry early in the am. It is so beautiful if it is calm. (I get seasick on a toss) PEI is such a lovely friendly place.
I did fill in as a camp cook at a back woods fishing lodge for a time. I liked the location and a few of the clients but wasn't happy with one of the guides. He was into doing drugs and he was a dangerous person to have about. The water we were offering was a particularly dangerous place if the wind came up (it did and quickly) and being stoned wasn't the best way to get clients back safely.
Hope things went well with you car. Steve has this woods truck that is eating us out of house and home. It has all been replaced over time and now we are working on the second round. It needs to be replaced but I have no idea how we will do that or when.

Yes, that was the school in North Rustico that the woman in charge rents. It is for a couple weeks early July, usually. People go on learning holidays, book into cabins and come to class, or locals and some students at the University in Charlottetown come for arts credits.
No, I was not a teacher in my normal life. I have dealt with severe health problems for a very long time (and things still happen from time to time) so I had to stop my work in the regular workforce. Here it is hard to find part time work I can keep up with. I was a contract draftsman amongst a number of other things including a back woods camp cook.
I learned to do a variety of things artistic just to fill time and make money to survive. I like to share what I like with people of like mind or with kids I know, and being able to go to that so beautiful rural location every summer and spend a week doing what I love, with people who want to learn (and getting paid for it) is wonderful. I am usually exhausted at the end but it is so fulfilling. Pays for my paint supplies and my website expenses too.
One thing lead to another. The floorcloths are painted designs on prepared Canvas. You can put them in a normal traffic area on the floor. Another old art form used until the invent of linoleum, made torn sails from the ships. In the pictures on my website, you can see the design being laid out and lines protected by tapes.
Not woven, although that now has a spark burning back in my brain. There are lots of scraps left over when I trim so I want to find something neat I can do to use them to....thank you, I think.

The reference to eggs is to shells. I am not allowed to have birds.....heavy sigh. Husband says no way. If the economy gets much worse we may have them, though, we'll see. He figures the foxes will get them. I wanted Emu (meat and eggs) but that sure was a big "NO" !! I 'write' on the shells with dye, a batiking method. Pysanky, (Ukrainian Easter Eggs are an example) and I do offer to teach it as well. I find this ancient artform speaks to something deep in my soul. Don't know why as my roots are in Scotland, Ireland and Normandy. I am not sure that my ancestors dealt with shells of that sort in any way.

Our weather changes so quickly. That snow we got over Friday night (10) inches has melted due to higher temperaturesa nd a fierce wind yesterday, and now it is like spring out there. Mind you that won't last long. Steve is out cutting Christmas trees and brush today and will be home soon for his supper. I need to get things started. I enjoy chatting with you.

how's this Ken? I changed the size. I can't get the smaller one to do that until I retake the photo and that won't be today or tomorrow. I need to find rechargeable batteries for the camera.

I had to go check my site.....I didn't see my studio...are you referring to that huge classroom I teach Floorcloths from in over on Prince Edward Island? That truly is a gorgeous space and the view is of North Rustico harbour wit the waves rushing in constantly.

I actually took over the hallways as well as another entire classroom and we even had things drying outside. (I moved the pingpong tables down from the gym and they worked so well!
I do have a good studio space downstairs here in our home. It was a kitchen when it was a seperate apartment. It was pretty much trashed by the little kids who used to live here. It was their play area and they had all their friends in...It took a couple years but I saved up the money and replaced the ceiling tiles, the big window and then filled holes, sanded everything and then painted. I have a set of cupboards I took the doors off so I have a flat file and then I have an entire section for egg and egg supplies. I have running water and now I even have insurance so I am covered if something was to happen when I teach pysanky. Took some doing but I think it will be worth it in the long run.
And no one tells me to clean up.......:?))

Hi Ken, Thanks so much for your great comments on my Textured Hydrangeas, actually there are two of them, I did a set of em. I have done a few of these textured things and I am trying to get the right consistency that feels good to me, this one I like very much and it wasn't that bad to work in, I love the way it does the leaves. Thanks again!

ummmmmmmmmmmmm! leg of lamb sounds wonderful! I dated a man who was a chef and I would go to his home for lunch and he made me lamb chops and had the cute little white fluffly things on them. I was impressed. My friends always chided me for letting him go. I would have weighed a ton if I had married him. No turkey for Christmas, by that time I am done with turkey. I usually do a beef rib roast at Christmas or some other cut of beef. We enjoy our meat , no vegetarians in this family. I used to take gourmet cooking classes so my guys eat very well. Plus they are not picky. Lucky me. Rita
