Acrylics Critique Help needed.

Your painting needs depth. When the entire painting has the same value it's flat, nothing recedes and nothing comes forward. You need more contrasts...darkest darks and brightest brights. You've got…

A formula for shadow

I LOVE it! I have always maintained that the fun or joy will show through. Conversely, one can also see when it was just hard work. Give me joy every time.

I like The Great Dames of San Antonio as the album name , and 515 Belknap for the title . I don't think anyone would be concerned you painted their house .

WOW. This is just beautiful.

I like "Grand Dames of San Antonio" - it's beautifully descriptive without being invasive .

I might consider naming them for the streets only and no address due to privacy issues. Maybe Lady Belnap, Lady Main, Lady Whatever street. If on the same street you could number them using roman numerals I, II, III, IV, etc.

Karalee, on completion of all my paintings I will sit and ponder the entire piece, what message it sends to me personally, is there a particular subject in the piece outstanding. Sometimes a "title" comes to me whilst painting. I "name" my paintings…

I love encaustic and keep coming back to it. I cannot afford the real deal and so use Crayolas and "make do" tools, so I guess it would depend on how purist the group would be.

Karalee,
Thanks for stopping by a leaving your encouraging comment. My wife says it looks like something one of our kids in kindergarten would have done. My set wasn't far off from that, I must say. Thanks!

Hi KaraLee,
I got your message and I seem to have lost the thread. What mission are you referring to?
Please refresh my memory. Cheers

Thank you for your helpful comments. Sometimes it seems like I'll never learn.

I love both of the newest encaustic works. So dynamic that they're really inspiring.

thank your for your kind words of support for my work. not many people take thees subjects seriously. there considered illustrative types of subject mater. but i think like Warhol that thees images have a place of residency in the psyciy of the American publics mind and there for make excellent subjects do to there instant recognizability, IE,"Comfort food for the mind" lol

Wow, thank you Rose of San Antone, guess the old cliche about a picture's worth still holds true. This country has been much maligned of late and its beauty often not fully appreciated by its folks. I'm glad you do. Having said that there's that old mission in your neighbourhood I never got around to see and I'm sure I'd flip if I'd taken a walk by the river over there. I love the longhorns you did, really, if my pic had been taken standing up you'd have seen them on my belt :-)

Hi Karalee, thanks for taking time out to view and critique my painting "Basket of Flowers". I know exactly what you mean about liking it but feel there's something wrong. That's how I saw it myself. I started off with a yellow wash in the background because some of the flowers had yellow in them. Doing all those petals got really tedious so I tried to make the best of them. I knew there was something wrong with them and that's why I posted them to see if anyone would be honest about it. You were right on the money with your critique. I will post another floral painting in the near future so, If you please see what you think about that painting. I, myself look at others paintings for at least three or four minutes just to see how it was achieved and whether if flows together nicely.
Thanks again,
Cheryl
