Tell us a bit about yourself:
Thought it was time to update my profile..... am still working primarily with watercolour though the odd charcoal commission still comes in!!! Am still on a very long journey with watercolour and am sure it will never end as the more I learn the more there seems to be to learn!!! I am managing to loosen up my style and that has been like learning to paint all over again with lots of painting for the bin as Jean Haines would say... take a look at her work, that's what I'm striving for, loose, vibrant colourful, spontaneous.... not asking for much am I???

Hi Judith,

I hope we can be friends here too. I like your work a lot but am not good at loose yet though I just love the style. Please als have a look at my post today and tell me what you think of the portrait.

Hi Judith, yes I saw you were on PMP.  I don't spend as much time on here as I used to just other things getting in the way.   Re Steve's accent, he reminded me of the way Steve Cram the athlete spoke hence my putting in the Newcastle area.   My cousin who emigrated to Detroit in the 50's phones me quite regularly after we got in touch and he has not lost is Glaswegian accent, of course, some words are Americanised but I was amazed how much of his Scot's accent he had retained. He said that the words that are different like fawcett for tap and sidewalk for pavement are very accented because he picked up the "new" words as they were spoken.  Ah! well back to the ironing for me Grrrrr.  I would rather scrub a floor than do the ironing.

Hope you have a Happy and Healthy New Year.

Love,

Dorothy

Hi Judith, Just goodled for Steve Ormerod as I was really curious as to where he came from.

Burnley - Lancashire.  So much for my guess at North East.  Didn't want to answer on the group as I might turn it into a guessing game.

Hope all is well with you and you survived the gales - we did but my neighbours house lost some roof tiles and there is a garden shed in a garden across the way - don't know from whence it came.

Thank you, Judith :) May be I will paint another version with a more light top.

Hope you are having a creative period for painting. Last time your watercolours were especial loose and fresh. Nice style.

I took part in the Jean`s Challenges (August and September), you advised me. Thank you, I did it. My results were not nice because I can`t avoid details but I enjoyed :) Have a beautiful day. Elena

Thanks for your detailed comments on my latest paintings (I noticed just now you also commented on Spalentor, that did not seem to come up on my page). Yes, the cars are not quite right and you make a fair point on the wall around the church. It is really quite neat in reality, I expect they must have recently renovated it! Take care, Elise

Thank you Judith for taking the time to comment on my Roses... I am unable to post them with the Loose Group at PMP so decided to post here! Your comments were appreciated as I do not usually paint in a loose style and this was a stretch for me. You suggested splatters ... they are there but the camera didn't pick them up clearly. Thanks again..........Betty

Understand being busy, life, work and etc! After reading your message I went back and looked again at your painting with a critics eye. I saw what you meant about the angle of the steps, but it distracts very little from the over all view.  Are you going to post the rework?

Same here, family getting a bit fet up with it.  We need to not get carried away with it, (only natural though due to it being a new venue) and find a happy level and rythmn.  Dead halt isn't it... though...  possibly...  lol     Would you agree????    (rhetorical question)...     :)

Thanks Judith - I'm more pleased about it not looking wishy-washy for once rather than how the rose has come out.  Kept going in and adding pure stronger pigment.  Changed the settings on my camera as well.  Not sure if that had anything to do with it.  You must be getting frustrated by now.  Well I suppose it gives you time to get ahead with images, etc.  Take care.  Laura x

I've tried it Judith but it never works for me.  Some people can make big wet splodges all over the paper and end up with a lovely dog or cat or flower.  All I get is big wet splodges all over the paper!

I wish I could paint like that but it is beyond me - but you are getting there kiddo - keep at it - you're good.

The way I look at it Judith, you know you are improving when you only have 10 bad ones. I wish I only had 10 bad ones. I bet you remember when you couldn't produce a good one to save your life. So pat yourself on the back and know you are really growing, in such a good way! I love your new style. Look back at your old work, there is always that loose thread there and that is part of you. Keep up the good work!

Hi Judith,

Holidays?  Myself, Elaine (wife), my youngest son and his wife, together with little 'Alfie' (grandson) almost 2 now, are flying out to C'an Picafort, because it's a relatively short flight for 'Alfie'.  Never been to Majorca before, but seeing as how we were asked if we'd like to come along, we thought ..'Why not'!

I think maybe it's to give my son and daughter in law a bit of a hand with nipper. We don't mind anyway, besides we want to see his little face when he steps out of the hotel straight onto the beach, that's how close it is.

Our favourite holiday destination is Cyprus. We are thinking of going again 7th time, next year. We prefer the 'Protaras and Pernera' areas as they are so laid back and quiet. Not like the 'Ayia Napa'....pleasant in the day, but noisy at night. Good job it's only a short drive away from Protaras.

But if C'an Picafort is nice...who knows?

Derick.

I hope you have framed that pic Judith.  The colours and the reflections are lovely.  It would look great on the wall in a frame. x

Lovely loose paintings on your gallary Judith. I would love to be able to do that.

"I just finished my Yorkie. She sure is a cute little critter. I didn't have the right colors (or wasn't successful in blending them), but I do like her anyway. It's done in Derwent Colorsoft pencil on 9 x 12" drawing pad paper. "
