Tell us a bit about yourself:
Jana earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Education with a Minor in Art in 1971 from Hardin Simmons University in Abilene, Texas. Her formal training in painting began in 1969 with oils under the direction of Otis Lumpkin. She then was introduced to clay and sculpture through Wally Sorge. Warren Cullar demonstrated and taught her basic watercolor in 1970. Jana’s recent work has been influenced by artist and friend, Karolyn Cleveland.

After raising a family and retiring from public school teaching in 1999, Jana started exploring watercolor extensively. Her favorite subjects are character portraits, food, carnival rides, cowboys, nostalgic scenes, and repetitive shapes. In addition to painting, she works with fabric art, quilting, and soapmaking. Computers, computer graphics, antique collecting, the history of pioneer women, and writing are her other interests.

I appreciate your comment to me as well... and yes.. I try to pour my soul into my paintings.... the numbers on my painting represent in order as I finish them from the beginning of my paintings up til now... so my daughter on the horse was my 9th painting.... thank you for taking the time to look at my art as well... but I am still very impressed with your glass... :0)
