Really neat. Love the vivid colors.
The shadowing on the door was tricky because the door was recessed, so I thought the shadow would stop at the recess. Totally agree about the trees. Got into a Turner inspired background and overlooked the trees
I'll have to agree with you about the shadows. Some seem to stop at the door instead of carrying through. Shadows would also give more definition to the building. Another hint might be to leave some open areas in the trees to make them more realisti…

- I'm retired from University teaching. I have three children and three grandchildren. Took up painting early fall '07 year and even though I have some things that are frustrating me no end, I really enjoy creating something from nothing.

Bummer
Boy what a last couple of weeks. People I know are dying every week or so plus I was asked to help out a funeral for someone who didn't have a lot of friends or family around. Then found out my brother-in-law has been diagnosed with a fairly aggressive cancer. Now a friend at church has to have a quick turnaround surgery for heart blockage. So can't get up much interest in painting right now. May the tide turn sooner than later.

We had snow! This is a once in a decade thing for Birmingham, Alabama so I thought y'all might want to see what we get excited about in the winter of a decade. They'll probably close the schools tomorrow even if it's all gone by sunset.

This is a very good portrait. Payne's grey I find very good for black and white subjects, although you do seems to have other colours mixed with it? Quite a bit of red? Well done.
