- for the past 10 years i have been living in france. i am an avowed dabbler in all things artistic. i draw and have since i was a kid, but i had never tried to paint until a few months ago. i also do video productions and write... when i am not chasing my 3 and 5 year old boys around that is!

thanks so much for your help! i was beginning to think that no one out there could speak into this. after you put the paper on there do you put a varnish over it to help protect it? any thoughts on that?
You can give the newsprint an aged look by going over it with a wet tea bag. I'd tear it instead of cutting it out. I think that adds to the textured look. I use Golden's Paste to stick things on a canvas or board. Permanent marker will write on oil…
