Absolutely beautiful, Pat. What a wonderful, lasting gift for your daughter. She'll think of you every time she looks up a recipe. Great idea.

Thanks so much for the comment on GEMMA, Martin. I appreciate it, especially from you. The reference photo was in color but it just screamed out for graphite. Sort of strange how our minds see things. Have a wonderful day, Fran

Tell us a bit about yourself:
My father was an artist and I learned technique from him when I was very small. I've always drawn but never had a lot of time for it when I was working and raising kids. I'm now retired. I have time for the things I like to do best, including portraits.

A FRIEND GAVE ME THESE LITTLE DANCING GIRLS AND I LOVE THEM. NO MATTER WHAT MUSIC IS PLAYING, THEY SEEM IN TIME WITH IT. THEY JUST HALF-TIME OR DOUBLE-TIME IT AND NEVER GET TIRED. WONDER WHAT KIND OF VITAMINS THEY TAKE. ;-)

TEXAS BLUEBONNETS

Hey Y'all,

I was out again yesterday, shooting Bluebonnets. My understanding is that they're not indigenous to this part of the country. They may have been brought here from the east coast of the U.S. or somewhere in Europe. But they're now the state flower of Texas and don't ever argue that point with a Texan. Again, if you'd like, these are free to use as reference.

NEW REFERENCE PHOTOS

Hey everyone,

Yesterday, my long-time friend, Roberta allowed me to wander around her yard with my camera. It's an azalea paradise right now. I have more but so far, I've edited these.

If anyone would like to use these for reference, feel free to use them.

WHAT THE HECK IS THIS THING?

Hey everyone,

I'm showing my ignorance here, so be kind, please.

Since this came from Pat O'Brien's, I assume it's for some beverage. Since I'm not much of a drinker, I'm not sure if it's a glass for a lazy brandy enthusiast or a pitcher for mixing and pouring something else. Since I'm not using it for either of these, everyone around here asks me why I want to know.....if it ain't broke, don't fix it. Just curious. PLEASE TELL ME IF YOU KNOW!!!!!!!

Whatever it is, it's the neatest little gad… Continue

SYMMETRY

Hey everyone,

I just realized I have a good example for everyone else when it comes to portraits. Everyone here has such a good eye, I'm probably telling you something you already know. But here goes.

Of course, no face is perfectly symmetrical. I, however, have a face that's less symmetrical than most. We're talking not only a difference in size and set of eyes on the face but in eye color. My mouth is also very different on each side. These are the kind of things that can make a por

Hi Fran
Thank you very much for your lovely comments on Lamoine, i have 3 identical mechanical pencils, each cost approximately $2 ( very cheap) the brand is uni- shalaku dx (0.5 mm), they are great for continuous drawing as they have a side button which is always in reach so you don't have to pause to propel more graphite, each of my pencils are loaded with a different level of graphite, hb, 2b and 4b, being identical means i never have to adjust to a different feel which makes life so much less complicated don't you think!!, Bet you wish you never mentioned them hey LoL.

Best regards
