How long have you been drawing or painting?
I'm returning to art after a long lay off
Tell us a bit about yourself:
Well,I have three children (two teens and a younger child) - I love Jesus with all my heart - I thank Him for all He has done in my life, Im a very blessed woman.
6 years ago now (where has the time gone, the years have gone by so so quickly), my husband passed into heaven from a long battle with cancer - it taught me so much about my Jesus and His love for us - He held me close, through it all. I have a much deeper appreciation now, of who He is tome, of just how beautiful people are, and life can be. I thank Him, for all of it.
Im a windowwasher these days :) - Jesus afforded me that opportunity -which is quite a turn for me, for most that know me, would never imagine I would do such a thing :)
As to art - never had formal training in art but was enrolled in art school for one day - and lasted one hour, at age 16 - so much for that! I was promptly thrown out by the art principal who told me I had no artistic talent, to pack up my things and 'go home'...... so, I did (with my tail between my legs lol) After that, I was tooooo scared to enroll in any lessons - one eviction was enough for me So, every now and then I practised, quietly at home, in cafes sometimes, studying peoples features and faces. I love portraiture, which Ive done in watercolours, a little bit in oils and pencil and charcoal sketching. Ive not really ever been able to indulge myself much in my passion, but as my children are growing older, I wanted to start making inroads into developing my art more. Looking around this site Ive been so very encouraged to keep on practising and painting.
......... and my latest insight ? - the more I am learning here on this site..... the more I realize I need to practise continuously and push myself out of the comfort zones. Im starting to appreciate more, all the different forms and varieties of art - its been such an exciting learning curve for me.
I am so indebted and grateful to my friends here whom have been so encouraging and good to me, helping me along the way.. Thankyou to all. :)
May Jesus bless each and every one who stumbles across this page, may you seek and find Him, and in that you find what real love and contentment is.... as He has, to mine.
And here is some blonde logic :) ........ once you know something, you cant, not know it.
:)

Hi Eli, Thank you so much for your kind comments on Stonehut and Stone Bridge, I really do appreciate them.
BTW, After viewing your gallery, I am sure the art principal that you mentioned in your bio didn't have a clue.

Hi Eli
I hope you are enjoying life on the Gold Coast as much as I do on the Sunshine Coast. You might like to check out Arts Sunshine and maybe get inspired to create something similar if the Gold Coast does not already have something too similar.

Cheers

Hi Ele,
Thank you for your kind comment on my work. I have had much pleasure viewing your artwork here. Problem trying to pick a favourite? Probably 'Negress With Leaves' for the knowing look. Well done.
Kindest regards.

Hi Eli
thank you for your wonderful comments on my drawing of Archie Shepp, so very much appreciated my lovely friend, the funny thing about your choice though!!, i was roughly half way through that particular drawing when i had a stupid accident!!!!, slipped over in the garden and broke my ankle and badly gashed my right hand (requiring 20 Stitches), fortunately i'm left handed and after a couple of weeks was able to resume the drawing, albeit! rather uncomfortably lol, i had to finish it slightly hurriedly as it was a commission and needed as a christmas present!!.
As for your art my dear, well lets just say that your One time art principal missed the boat big time!!!, your very talented and have produced some stunning pieces, keep at it Eli, your work is wonderful.

I perhaps would not label this "contemporary". Rather, it harkens back to very old Japanese stylistic painting. Its beautiful, but .....
