Thank you all for your nice words and comments-- funny thing. i thought it was a 4 x 6... got matting and a frame for it in that size - only to find out it's really bigger than I thought. Talk about being disconnected with a piece! sheeeesh! LOL

I love the feeling of the guitarist melding into the guitar. Well done. Art is a visual medium that speaks to the heart, evidently you spoke to your coworker. Don't put the piece down, learn from the experience. When a piece is done it will tell you…

Tell us a bit about yourself:
I consider myself relatively new to pastels, having taken a 2 hour workshop in April '08. I'm absolutely hooked! Other than that.. hmmm.. I'm a single mom, work in marketing for a really cool university as their designer/art director. I'm into all sorts of creative things (you name it), love nature, lakes, rivers, kayaking and exploring. I am online (Yahoo) quite often and love to chat. Please feel free to IM me there - I'm bgcat

Artrageous Minds

And here's a little more about me...

Photobucket

I started a nonprofit organization a couple years ago called Artrageous Minds. Raising a bipolar son on my own has been a difficult road for both of us. For many years he was misdiagnosed, and wrongly medicated. Our organization hopes to bring awareness to bipolar disorder and other mental health issues through art. (and music, poetry, dance...) There have been a number of setbacks in getting the organization off the ground - including a car accident that put me out of commission for 6 months, and then my home invaded - and computer stolen not just once.. but again after it was replaced. (rotten thief!)
So finally - two years later we're back in business. I am co-hosting an event in Troy MI, where we have Brian VanderArk from the Verve Pipe coming for a private performance. If you are in the area, and interested in coming please contact me! We will be having a silent auction as well as some art up for direct sale. I've also got a 5 foot hand carved black bear that will be raffled off that night. If you - as an artist are interested in donating a piece, contact me.

Interested in learning more? Our plans include opening a working studio/gallery, and in the future a camp for families who deal with mental illness in their lives. Our goals are lofty, but my passion runs deep.
Visit my websites: www.artrageousminds.net
www.myspace.com/artrageousminds. The one on myspace gets newcomers daily, and people there meet other people just like themselves. I hope some of you will join me there too.

Art Market SALES!!! Thanks to you!

Hey - I am just so psyched up - today I literally DRUG myself (and my son) to the arts and crafts market and set up shop. I've been sicker than a dog for the last 2 weeks, and the weather wasn't really looking like it was going to be the greatest day.

But we went - and I am so glad… Continue

Cathy

when a creative gets sick...

...we get bored!

I spent the last few days doing pretty much nothing but laying on the couch, playing bejeweled on my laptop. Today I started puttering. this used to be a fork. Now I have a business card holder! My son thought this was pretty cool so made one of his own, and is suddenly geeked up to make stuff out of silverware for our next art fair.

What do you think?

Hi Cathy, thanks so much for coming by and the kind comments..
Congrats on the gallery....isn't that a rush?.....I am working on getting into a couple more in small nearby towns...
As to the question of FAA, I have sold two of the prints but one was some time ago...same painting.
I see you are still on the go...sorry to read you have been sick. I do hope you are feeling better...I can't see much keeping you down for long. I admire your strength Cathy...you always have something on the go...I wish we lived closer. There are so many people here I wish I was closer to so we could share more things. Support each other at shows...I have met a few artist here but somehow have just not met up with the right ones yet to have the kind of relationshiop I would like to have. Anyway wishing you the best Cathy...do let me hear how you are doing when you have the time.

Hi Cathy, Moving? where to? thanks for taking the time to stop by....the stucco comes in a jar called DecoArt texture and works great on canvas. I am going to try another brand next round. I love working with it. Here is a pic of the last painting of More Poppies. It shows it better than the red one. I can also link you to a site that I learned this from. take care. hugs.

Hi Cathy, thanks again for taking the time to comment on my rooster...I dont even like them lol..but so many are around and seems to me they are selling so maybe you are right this one will sell as well. You ask me about paint and brushes. I just use liqutex most of the time but do use van gogh as well...I think that has now changed to amsterdam paints. As far as brushes my favorites are the 1/4 and 1/2 in flat...I can do just about anyting with them I need. I do add a script brushe for details but I like to paint bold and make a bold hit best. I have painted only once with a 3 in and I loved it...so I have made up some large canvas for work soon. I hope the new year is treating you well. You have some new stuff on your artwork page. love the little bags. Your angels are some of my favorites too. I have always wanted to paint some but it has not yet hit me to do so. Soon...hugs Vickie
