How long have you been drawing or painting?
I'm returning to art after a long lay off
Tell us a bit about yourself:
I live in sunny Southern California with my Red Irish Setter, Molly Malone. I am teaching myself to paint dogs. I use friends dogs, dogs at dog beach, and at the dog park. While I'm there I take photos of them so that I have a reference to go by in between visits to make sure I have it right.
My goal is to practice on every subject daily, 24/7. If professional musician, sports players, and other artist of other field put in long hours of practice, why shouldn't we as artist. The paintings I posted are small 4x6 and 5x7 inches post card. This size is a pain to do but it tends to be a challenge and adds discipline. Every painting I will be doing is a learning piece and will go into the save and study box in the corner of the room. In-between practice I am also working on my other art work in order to see if I still can do it.
My life painting, portraits, landscapes, style is different from the animals as they ( animals ) are new territory for me right now.
Thank you so very much for visiting my page, and have a great day.

Post card size oil paintings. Photos taken too close.

Hi CJ. How are you and how is your knee? I hope you were not frightened out of you life with your Braveheart dream. I don't think Grandad Murdo was have slit your throat, more that likely he would have invited to you go fishing for trout, caught some and cooked one for your lunch over a little campfire.

Mac is tramping back and forth along the windowsill at the moment. There are sheep in the field behind the house and he is chattering to them but I am not letting him out as he will be scared once he is out and jumping around to get back in. I've given him the cuddle you sent and he says he enjoyed it thank you very much.

The chap is coming to plaster the walls on Saturday at 8 am so I'll need to be up early.

Well I am going to put the pot on to make some broth as it is getting cold here now.

Take care CJ speak again soon.

Love,
Dorothy

Hi .C.J. well its the forth day I didnt write before because I didnt think you would be able to accessa comp. I hope the op went O.K. and that you are feeling much better. are you able to get out of bed yet? Its the first few days that are annoying, and then the pain sets in, but you know all about that don't you. I know you will be O.K. you are a strong minded person , if you can face the wild blue yonder in a plane, you can face anything, Dont hurry back to work to soon though enjoy your break as long as you can.
Stop flirting with the Drs. see you back here soon

Hi CJ Here I am just popping in to say Hello and How are you?. I have been busy today. I am decorating my living room and just taking the last little bits of wallpaper from the walls. David did the heavy work so now all I have to do is get in touch with the plasterer who will skim plaster the walls, then it will be easy to put some emulsion paint on them, lay new flooring and the place will be ready for Santa. I've also been doing a bit of proof reading for an Indian friend who is writing the history of the railways in Mhow in India. He lives in Mhow and we got in touch because I was writing Murdo's biobraphy and Murdo was married in that town in 1903. When that job is finished I will need to shorten a pair of trousers as I am vertically challenged only 5ft tall. Well CJ that's about all my news for now will drop in again and take care hugs from me and Mac.

Dorothy

You'll probably be in hospital by the time this arrives CJ. I remember my Dad having to undergo heart surgery way back in the 60's when this type of surgery was in its infancy telling the surgeon he ws scared stiff and the reply he got from this emminent fellow was "The only folk who are not scared are babies" everyone else gets scared.
Take care and love,
Dorothy

I like the atmosphere here. Since pastels aren't my specialty, I won't comment on improvements. I think what everyone else has said makes sense. The one thing I do know is that pastels seem easy to lighten and darken so revisions should work. BTW....
