I know I'm late with this one, but I painted back in January and forgot about it.

Here is my painting for this challenge. This one was harder to do I think because composition was not one of my favorites but that is what the challenge is all about trying new things. I did try to blow up the tiny horse to get a better look but was…

Hi Sue O well I am not going to get into a battle about horse and I cannot see a curve in the spine more like the back end drops lower but that said it is not a place to go on about the rights and wrongs of minitue horses or animals which by the way…

I still stand by my analysis. I fully understand 'pacing' having been around horses and dogs all my life, but the angle of its head and neck combined with almost convex curve to the spine indicates to me it is trying hard to keep weight off its feet.

Hi Anne!
Thank you very much for your considerate comments on my Vinster Portrait. Its very much appreciated. I'm sorry for your losses too, hope the poem helped, yes it is sad though, but they are with us always in our hearts. The painting helped the healing some and now I have him with me always now to watch over me as he once did.
Thanks again.

Hi Anne,
I am struggling to get back into things I have just come on the site again and have now been through all of your "starting out album". I'm quite impressed at the various media you use - pencils, coloured and plain, acrylics, oils - you are very vesatile. I seem to be concentrating on plain pencil works awhen I do get down to it. Seem to enjoy strting out sketchy then continue into more detail - love doing cobblestones and drystane dykes!! I know - mad as a hatter. I haven't got any new photos taken when out with the dogs - the weather means we go out and back as quickly as possible. We popped up to Brechin Castle Garden Centre the other week and were sadly disappointed - it seemed to be getting changed around so what was on display was all over the place and the prices!!!!! well - needless to say we came away with nothing - not even a cup of tea!! It was even dearer than our Dobbies!! What courses are you doing this year? Good luck with them. I have recharged my digital camera battery to take some pictures of my latest drawings (just a few) but am not sure how I do it so it might be a while yet before you see any more from me!! but I will try. Have a good week. Regards, Morag

Thank you for your nice comment on Bigmac and Fries, it was fun to do.

Just finished my next, photo was horrible, so I'll take one outside tomorrow and post it.

Hi Anne...I think maybe instead of trying to correct this painting, which is sometimes hard to do in watercolor, I would redo the whole painting. I did with my latest post of my uncles. The other one was going fine until I started painting my tree on the right. It just looked awful so I decided to redo the whole thing. I felt it was such a waste of paper because I'm really short on supplies right now. Trying to conserve.
So give this one another go from scratch and I know it will look great. For me mist is something I find hard to acheive.
Have a wonderful Saturday!...Hugs..Cheryl

Thanks Anne for the comment on the horse. I scanned the pencil and it didn't show up and then the painted horse was wet so I spaced it away from the scanner. Mainly wanted to show the shape of the trot. The final may be totally different since highlights have been smeared. May have to put it in a harness with buggy

Since you said your water was to be glass like the direction of the shapes in the water should all be parallel or level. All standing water is level so the strokes will run parrallel. Ii would be hard to go back and rework. I also change the size of the painting and keep the best. Hold a small mat up and stand back move the mat around changing the shape of the picture to keep all those best areas. I have a watercolor my friend did that she cut in half giving me the upper part. Looks great. She didn't like the forground tree she had made.
Sometimes it is better to paint it again but I usually don't like to do the same thing twice either. LOL

Tell us a bit about yourself:
I am just getting in to art I loved art back in school but that was a long long time ago now and I now have the time in my life to indulge myself so I joind a leisure art class and did a module of the art and design cours which i passed now I want to learn more so I looked online and here I am looking forward to joining in with others here. I live in the countryside near to the sea so best of both worlds really I have lots of insperation and ideas just need to get my hands to draw and paint what my mind sees.
I love animals and have dogs cats and horses and hope to be god enough to be able to paint them one day.

I agree with Turtle. However, remeber that limestone is basically blue/grey; the greens are usually impurities or growths like moss and algae. Although it is deposited in layers, it is eroded by water, so has lots of verticals and wavy strata, both…
