I see you've added lots since I saw it last. I thought the rocks in the foreground between the trees were perfect. It really looks great. The color mixes you showed us are good to know for future landscapes and I'm getting out my color wheel and lea…
I'm waiting for the Childrens Portrait Book by Jan Kuntz. If you order from Amazon, they also list used books at a much cheaper price on line. They have sold me many books new and I really found no difference except for the extra jingle in my pocket…
This is great. My friend and I talked this a.m. and we agree that we cannot look at the beginning stages and expect to see a masterpiece, that YOU taught us. It is stages. I am working on four at the same time because I need one by the end of the we…
I have a husband, does the same thing!(LOL) I was just looking at my blue jays and thinking how to get a picture of his backview for the tail. Then I would have to track someone down to help me mix those neon blue/purple splotches. I already tried!…
very nice for a first portrait, Alana. I really think they are fun to do. Thanks for posting it - and good luck with your new pieces you are working on.
More than 3 years, I'm returning to art after a long lay off
Tell us a bit about yourself:
Started painting with oils in1983, sporatic but commited. Took lessons to keep me motivated. Began with watercolor a year ago in an art group (mixed media). Got right "into" a painting a day to give me some diversity. Ran into all kinds of problems with so many subjects and a new medium. Love to talk shop with other artists. I'm leaning toward abstract! Alana
Hi Alana, I must tell you that I love that abstract - which was my first both 'abstract' (accidently) and my first acrylic! I was in class and we were supposed to be putting colour on the board as a background .... now I don't take instruction very well and I was just enjoying myself - when I put the picture up on an easel, stepped back and decided I liked it just as it was and it was much to colourful to be a background for anything. So I have framed it and am still deciding exactly where to hang it in my house! So thank you and tc, Sharon PS will look Wheeler up on Gogle.
Thanks Alana, yes I agree backgrounds are interesting and they interest me more that I am a bit more confident in what I try and do, rather than leaving just a white background....
Hi alana many thaks for taking the timeto lave me feedback it is always greatly aprecaited hope you are keeping well and getting on wiht the new site too take care anne
Hi Alana,
Thank you for the lovely comments on my portrait drawing. I agree with your advice about the hair and the nexcklace, easy things to fix. Thank you so much for your imput appreciate it more than you know.
Take care,
Kimber
Hi Alana - though my goal is not to make the watercolor look like oil - I guess it is my attention to lots of detail that creates that effect. Lots of people have made the comment that they thought it was oil at first. I told Jeff tonight that he was becoming famous cause my artist friends around the world were commenting on his portrait. He was pretty excited that there was so much interest.
I agree with Turtle. However, remeber that limestone is basically blue/grey; the greens are usually impurities or growths like moss and algae. Although it is deposited in layers, it is eroded by water, so has lots of verticals and wavy strata, both…
