Hello Tom, so where is everybody this month? Perhaps they're preparing for the holidays. Well, here's my sunset. Hope we get some more -- it's pretty quiet out here!

This is soft pastel/pastel pencil on drawing pad paper. 8 x 10

Very nice Marquerite. I had hoped for more by now maybe some don't like sunsets. Maybe another still life next month? lol

Oh, I'm sure people like sunsets. I think it's just the time of year -- lots going on. Apparently people do like still lifes though -- we certainly did have good turnout last month!

I couldn't get close enough, nor did I want to, to take a photo of the same place during our severe weather this last week. the water completely covered the island and partway up the tree trunks. I would have had to stand in water up to my chest to be in the same spot this was taken.

What was left from Hurricane Ida just sat off the coast here and just dumped rain. for three days with wind gusting to 75mph.

If you enter my address, 2054 Parkview Ave, Norfolk, VA 23503, in google maps and set on satellite view you will see the tidal water across the street and south of my house. I live on the north side of Parkview and on the curve. My house has the reddish brow roof and is the one with the frond facing due south. Chesapeake bay is to the north. No worry from the bay but water is pushed into the tidal inlet to the south of me. High tide Friday night flooded the street in front of my house and filled the houses on the other side of the street with several inches of water.

We lost power early Thursday afternoon and finally got it back Sunday evening. Al told quite the miserable weekend. lol

Hey Pat, I should have known we could count on you! I like your painting. Again, it's fun to see how differently people paint the same scene. I like your threatening clouds and the atmospheric feeling you've achieved. I couldn't decide exactly how to handle the lens flare. I wonder if it would be easier to capture that in another medium.

I had hoped to have a go at your lovely shell in the acrylics challenge. Maybe I can still get it done. Sorry to hear Socs is still not well (poor kitty). Hope he turns the corner soon! Thanks for your kind comments on my painting! Take care, Marguerite

It sounds like your weekend was no fun. Glad you didn't get water in your house -- that is never good. I did Google your address and I see what you mean. Seems like you could get it from all sides when the conditions are right (or wrong as the case may be). Glad you didn't try to take a picture from the same location as the challenge photo -- that would have been a very bad idea! :-) Hope things start drying out soon. Take care, Marguerite
