Has anyone tried one of those new mini (led) beamers in order to get a sketch of some reference picture on paper? These gadgets are small, not very expensive, don't produce much heat, work on batteries, can be connected to any computer or even mp3 player... Shouldn't that be the ideal tool?

I have corrected that link. Examples are from German Amazon. There are many more sellers, of course.

I could not resist buying one, i. e. the Aiptec V10. First tests show me that it seems to be ideal for projecting reference photos (or whatever) onto a sheet of paper and then make your drawing. You don't even need a computer, just insert an SD card. That gadget even has an inbuilt battery, so you don't fiddle with cables etc. Very handy! It has about the size of an older cellphone.

I intend to report later about my experiences with that little piece of StarTrek technology...

i haven't but i totally would! my brother uses overhead projectors for some of his art and this seems similar but WAY more convenient! this is a great idea, i had no idea they made these so small!

It is not very bright. Indeed, as a means to watch TV, it would be a flop. But perfectly right for the above mentioned purpose.

Emma, Really lovely painting. The blues look so crisp and fresh, and you have still kept the petals looking delicate. H
