I've painted a few watercolor paintings, but my primary medium is acrylic. Watercolor is so different, it needs a light touch (which I'm practicing!).

I'm pretty happy with this painting, from a photo taken in Provence, France.

Would love any feedback or suggestions.

Hi Michelle ,

I have posted you this in the group already. Ihope it helps . YOu have paint a very nice window and needs from my point of view just some changes but very small. Look something like this:

TIP: for to make an edge softer you make the area wet and take of with a brush some paint. Just a small bit...and to add this you can just paint over. But leave the window like it it. Is very good!

Maria, thank you for the tips! Transitioning from acrylic to the much more subtle style of watercolor is proving more difficult than I thought. I really appreciate your tips.

Hi Maria,
I went back to the picture and softened the column edges. Also, although the photo had white flowers in the foreground, I found that adding red flowers makes the foreground pop. Thanks for your feedback, and I welcome more!!!!!

The red flowers definitely add color and interest to the painting. Otherwise, the only place you had red was in the flag. LIke Maria said, put some darker color at the base of the shrubs to make it more 3D.

Thanks Lynn, I added some shading beneath the shrubs as you suggested and you're right....it makes a big difference!

bonjour
malgré que je sois un débutant , je trouve l'ensemble agréable , la présentation équilibré .
remarque = les drapeaux " déséquilibre " l'harmonie , le bosquet devant le porche serait à revoir .
bonne journée
