I think that my subjects tend to be a bit stiff even when copying a Rockwell.

The Christmas scene was my first attempt at colored inks, the second was my second attempt.

Suggestions, Critique please and where do you think i should go from here?

Both are with colored inks but using twigs as the method for applying the ink

Hmmmm! Pepere, this is a difficult one. Both of the works are of a high enough standard that they could be prints. This may be part of your 'apparent' problem. Where I'd be going is to attempt some studies from life, not photographs or prints, but life.
You very kindly commented on my work as being realistic (or something along those lines), well where that comes from is practising my sketching ability from the life model. If you can, take a run along to your local college or school where they have a life drawing class, I'd do that. The great stand-by though is? The mirror. Do some self-portraits. You are your own best model. You never complain to yourself, not unless your schizophrenic, are you? If you are, let me speak to your alter ego. Ha! Ha! Ha!
When you do such sketching and drawing, you learn to loosen up, lose the bad habits or 'tricks' you've grown used to - God knows I've got plenty of them! and very quickly that 'stiffness' you allude to will disappear.
Coincidentally, I've just posted a couple of examples of life drawing sketches on my page, have a look at them. These would've been done in around 10-15 minutes. They're rough, that's the way they're meant to be. It's Practice, Practice, Practice, Pepere.
Don't worry, you'll get there sooner than you think. Regards, Brian

I think that all looks well but one thing. The man and the boys face looks a little "droopy", maybe "runny" on the left sides of their faces. Or is this a part of the picture. Everything else I saw, looked like perfection to me! I would be interested to know if that was a part of the painting, and if so, what meaning does it have?

The 2nd picture is great as well! I especially love the little puppy in the picture! Again I see what I feel would be an imperfection to me if it were my art, but I would color in just a little bit more on the backside of the little girl. There is a spot that looks like her hair is very thin in that spot?
Other than that, it looks great! I'm going to have to look into trying the colored inks. They are very nice pictures. I would like to create my own one day. How long did it take for you to do these?

I haven't painted in several years, over a decade! It's all just a little new for me now. Many things have changed since my teens.

I do see what you mean about the mouths - Actually they are supposed to be singing and I may have over emphasized the Cockney that I would see them using. You know - how a Cockneys mouth goes all the way around the word to get it out?
The other picture, actually I am not sure where you mean about the girls hair. but it is really recreated from a piece of ceramics that my mom had done. So, although, I think that the hair looks too full to show so much scalp, that is how the ceremic is

Thanks for the comments and I do look forward to seeing your work someday
